Joseph Abrantes (A’14) joined the ExCollege shortly after graduating from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Relations. Now the Program Coordinator, he oversees weekly departmental newsletters, alumni communications, and instructor support. He collaborates on the ExCollege’s social media channels, our student working group, and our four signature teaching programs. Joseph is also pursuing an M.A. in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership at Tufts. His research interests are in higher education, including access, student outcomes, and the first-generation experience.
Madeleine Delpha (Program Administrator) oversees the operations of the program office, creates graphics and marketing materials, manages the ExCollege’s social media channels, and serves as an academic advisor. She has a B.A. and M.A. from New York University and worked at the Harvard Art Museums and Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston before coming to Tufts. She is currently pursuing a post-graduate certificate in Graphic Design at the SMFA. Madeleine enjoys reading, baking, yoga, gardening, and spending time with her husband and two children.
Amy Goldstein (Assistant Director) joined the Experimental College as Assistant Director in 2015 after many years of experience in both law and higher education administration. She holds a B.A. from the State University of New York, and a J.D. from Northeastern University. As an attorney she primarily worked with low income clients and prisoners on a range of issues, including health care access, mental health treatment, and public benefits. As a higher ed administrator, she focused on program development, career counseling, and experiential learning at both Northeastern University and Suffolk University. She has taught at the high school, college, and law school levels.
At the ExCollege, Amy directs the Explorations first-year advising program and leads a seminar for peer teachers. She also contributes to the strategic planning, program management, outreach, and events of the department. Outside of work, Amy likes doing crafty things like pottery, knitting and up-cycling old chairs. She can sometimes be spotted walking around the neighborhood with her rescue dog, Luko.
Howard Woolf (Director of the ExCollege and Associate Dean, Undergraduate Education) has been part of the ExCollege since the 80s. During his tenure, he’s worked closely with his colleagues on the Board and staff of the ExCollege to ensure a rich stream of Visiting Lecturer courses each semester, while taking a special interest in one of the ExCollege’s signature programs: peer teaching. Over the years, Howard helped launch such programs as EPIIC (now the centerpiece of the Institute for Global Leadership), TEDxTufts, and The Robyn Gittleman Graduate Teaching Fellows. With degrees in American Studies and English -- and special training as a filmmaker and photographer -- Howard also founded and directed TuftsFilmWorks, the university’s film production initiative, which has now become part of the Film and Media Studies major. Howard sits on the Arts and Sciences Educational Policy Committee and the Film and Media Studies Executive Board.
